Pancakes...my second favourite food
Date: 2012-02-13
Unfortunately, my pregnancy sickness has not gone away as I was assured it would. I'm 18 weeks and counting and I'm still having embarrassing episodes. I don't know why but it seems that every time I step on Ranelagh main street I am overcome. Of course people stop and stare at me but I've been too sick to care.
While the misery continues, I have made a discovery that has made me feel better. In addition to scrambled eggs, I like eating ham, cheese and egg crepes and I have found a creperie which serves crepes to rival any place in France.
Fafie's Creperie on Lower Kevin Street is my new favourite place. Their crepes and galettes are exactly as they should be - authentic Breton style with wonderfully fresh fillings. My palate won't allow me to move beyond the standard fare but my brother, Corrie, assures me that their more adventurous combinations are equally delicious. I wanted to share my discovery with you all given that we are fast approaching that most wonderful day (all the more wonderful for me this year)- Shrove or Pancake Tuesday. If you fancy making your own pancakes next week check out my column in the Sunday Times this week as I'm sharing my top tips.
